I would like to take this opportunity to give a personal concept of the internet giant's closing, megaupload and its repercussion on the web.
firstly I would like to recount what he was (today January 23, 2011 is out of line and awaiting a court decision) megaupload and services offered on the web.
founded in 2005 in hong kong, was a place where service was basically to host files to your server and thus share these on the web via a URL for download.
as megaupload there are many other such as mediafire, rapidshare, 4shared and many others 'share' (sharing in English).
megaupload probably is just the first of a string of closures and controversy on this issue.
Taking up my account of megaupload, giving the ability to upload files up to 2 gigabytes for free accounts and up to 100 for premium accounts, thus becoming a great way to accommodate and therefore file sharing multimedia content such as audio and video.
This giant was about 50 million hits a day and about 1000 million per year, thus becoming one of the busiest sites on the Internet.
in the audio track was very common to find albums or any artist's complete discography megaupload housed in the same way films, short films, books and many files with copyrighted content (copyrighted), these files and links were shared mostly in forums such as elbulto, Tipet, cdescarga, taringa, among others.
megaupload but in its policies prohibiting copyrighted files also gave the possibility for users to report this type of content, it is clear that the number of files dropped for this topic was vastly inferior to the number of active files.
did not take a genius to realize that many of megaupload files were housed within the detriment of the intellectual property of many people and companies.
I think megaupload closing on a subject so vast and complex, it is undeniable its very useful service, and we must also recognize that directly or indirectly harmed people.
Finally I think that the closure of megaupload is just a warm wet cloth as the underlying problem, many people prefer to download an album to pay 10 or 20 dollars for this, although it is more just reward the effort and talent of the artist , what if these services did not exist? the average person probably would not know even 1% of the music now known as to have access to it would have to be literally a billionaire, or how many movies have seen in my life if each had to pay, surely would be just a fraction.
So I recognize the right of all artists and those involved with copyright, applaud not having access to any content without paying anything, but I think that the system is not perfect.
so that with the closure of megaupload many people around the world will have less access to less content and this is the absolute truth. . .
good or bad? Draw your conclusions.
note: I took the image of this article from a blog, do not pay royalties, I am aware of the work that cost the graphic artist, I hope forgive me.
